By early 1862 Major General George McClellan was under a lot of political pressure by President Lincoln to bring the war to Richmond. This cartoon represents the growing frustration of the north with the stalemate between the Union and Confederate forces in Northern Virginia. The image shows Union General McClellan facing opposite Confederate General Johnston.
